SUMMARY:Career Awards at the Scientific Interface
DESCRIPTION:Career Awards at the Scientific Interface\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Award\nBWF’s Career Awards at the Scientific Interface (CASI) provide $500,000 over five years to bridge advanced postdoctoral training and the first three years of faculty service. These awards are open to U.S. and Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and temporary residents.\nDetails\nThese grants are intended to foster the early career development of researchers who have transitioned or are transitioning from undergraduate and/or graduate work in the physical/mathematical/computational sciences or engineering into postdoctoral work in the biological sciences, and who are dedicated to pursuing a career in academic research.\nScientific advances such as genomics, quantitative structural biology, imaging techniques, and modeling of complex systems have created opportunities for exciting research careers at the interface between the physical/computational sciences and the biological sciences. Tackling key problems in biology will require scientists trained in areas such as chemistry, physics, applied mathematics, computer science, and engineering.\nApplication Process\nThe competition will employ a two-stage process. Pre-proposals will be reviewed and full proposal invitations will be sent by the end of November 2020.\nAll applicants will be required to complete a web-based questionnaire assessing their eligibility to apply for this award. If eligibility criteria are met, applicants will be automatically directed to the web-based pre-proposal application.\nIt is strongly recommended that potential applicants review the Request for Proposals prior to accessing the eligibility questionnaire.\nEligibility\nFor a full explanation of the eligibility requirements, view the Request for Proposals.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
