ORT Conference Registration Award
Apply by July 15th for conferences between September and December 2021

The ORT is pleased to offer a limited number of conference registration awards to enable graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to participate in national and international conferences. This is your chance to share your research through oral and/or poster presentations! Apply for up to $500 to cover the cost of conference registration.

Summer Student Social - New Date and Time!
June 30 | 3:00 - 4:00 PM

UHN Research summer students are invited to a weekly social to network with other summer students. This week we will be playing games and socializing in an online video-game-like environment, Gather.Town.

Join a Ryerson University Career & Co-op Centre and Canadian Society for Molecular Biosciences - Société canadienne des biosciences moléculaires collaboration virtual event on job hunting and pivoting during COVID-19. Hear from individuals that leveraged their science backgrounds to transition into communication, marketing, and sales roles during COVID-19.

The 4th Annual Life Sciences Career Symposium
July 9 | 10:00 - 3:00 PM

The St. Michael’s Hospital Research Student Association’s annual Life Sciences Career Symposium will be taking place on July 9, 2021, featuring keynote speakers Dr. Samantha Yammine (Science Sam, morning) and Dr. Ralph DaCosta (afternoon)! Join to learn, connect and ask questions about the career journeys of distinguished experts in the Life Sciences for our two sessions: Public Health and Science Communication (10am-12pm) and Biotechnology and Innovation (1-3pm).

Shut up and Write
Wednesdays from 1:00 - 3:00 PM

Having trouble with finding the time and motivation to write? Shut Up and Write is a chance for academic writers within the UofT community to write productively in a communal setting. The weekly afternoon sessions will follow the Pomodoro technique, where there will be a sequence of short sprints of writing with a few breaks in between. Bring your work and we'll help you with your productivity! Feel free to sign up for one or more sessions.

Dose Biosystems Summer Mixer Series
June 30 to September 1 on Wednesdays | 6:00 - 8:00 PM

The Life Sciences Career Development Society (LSCDS) invites you to a Summer Mixer Series with Dose Biosystems. The event aims to provide a space for students in STEM to informally network while connecting with the team at Dose. These events will follow Provincial safety guidelines and be limited to 10 individuals at an outdoor venue. Snacks and light refreshments will be provided.

These events are open to all individuals who want to connect with Dose. Students from underrepresented communities in STEM (LGBTQ+, Black, Indigenous, Hispanic/Latinx) are especially welcomed.

Journeys of Women in Science
July 15 | 5:00 - 6:00 PM

The U of T Women in Science Initiative is hosting a talk with Dr. Rama Khokha and Dr. Molly Shochiet. The event will discuss the “personal journeys” of these successful scientists, how they became scientists and the difficulties they overcame along the way.

LSCDS is Recruiting Volunteers

LSCDS is seeking enthusiastic candidates to fill many positions for the 2021-2022 team including Writing Team, Networking Team, Mentorship Team and more.

LSCDS is the largest career development society recognized by the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Their target population includes graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research associates from U of T and its affiliated teaching hospitals. They bridge the gap between academia and industry by providing networking, career development events, specialized collaborative programs, and workshops.
