ORT Summer Research Day
July 21 | 2:00 - 4:00 PM

The ORT virtual Research Day is an opportunity for UHN summer students to share their summer research with the UHN Research Community! Each summer student will have three minutes and one slide to share some of the things that they learned at UHN (just like Three Minute Thesis presentations). Participants will have the chance to win prizes for the best presentations ($250 total). 

Guidelines:

  • You can only use one slide with no animations or videos allowed.
  • All UHN summer students are invited to participate. It doesn't matter if you've been working in the lab, doing a literature review, or helping with EPIC, the purpose of Research Day is to share something that you learned this summer!
  • Trainees that are not available to present live on Zoom can submit a recording of their three-minute presentation.
  • Registration is required here.
  • Slides or recordings MUST by received by July 19th at 5 pm

Join the Research Professionals (RP)  at UHN for a lunch-time social event in Queen's Park! The purpose of the event is to create a space for all research professionals to network, socialize and collaborate across TeamUHN. We invite all research professionals across all institutions of UHN including but not limited to technicians, lab managers, clinical research staff, and research associates.

UHN Summer Seminar Series
August 3 to 5 | 1:00 - 4:15 PM

ORT and UHN STEM Pathways are excited to host the second annual Summer Seminar Series, a three-day virtual program for high school students to learn about research and healthcare at UHN. Students will participate in interactive and engaging activities each day and network with leading scientists and healthcare professionals from UHN. 

High school students that complete the seminar series can get their medical terminology certificate for the Health & Wellness Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM)! More information here.

Cancer 360+ Research Methods
July 12 | 12:00 - 12:30 PM

The Cancer 360+ program provides exposure to a diverse range of topics in cancer to promote a holistic understanding of cancer and cancer survivorship. Experts from across fields and professions share their knowledge and experience on topics including: cancer prevention, health literacy, the impact of smoking cessation on cancer treatment, and cancer rehabilitation.

Bicycle Maintenance Workshop at UHN

Join fellow UHN cyclers for a hands-on workshop to learn about the basics of bike maintenance from experts. Topics covered will include safety checks, assessing air pressure, flat tires, tightening brakes, lubing chains, and ensuring your bike is the right fit.

Submit and Publish Your Thesis: Formatting and Submission

This is the first of a two-part workshop is meant for graduate students working on their master’s or doctoral dissertations. The workshop is offered jointly by the School of Graduate Studies and Library staff.

  • Convocation and what happens next
  • Using a thesis template
  • Tips and tricks for thesis formatting in MS Word

The Stem Cell Network (SCN) is proud to relaunch their International Travel Awards Program to enable trainees to attend international conferences or meetings on stem cells, cell therapy and regenerative medicine. There are a limited number of awards available for conference travel occurring between July 1, 2022 and March 31, 2023.
