UHN STEM Pathways Volunteer of the Month

Every month UHN STEM Pathways recognizes the outreach work of our volunteers. For July we acknowledge the contributions of Ash Hagerman. Ash, a PhD candidate doing research at TGHRI, has been a fantastic member of our team this year! Ash has helped out with many different youth events – from in-person visits to our monthly virtual career panel. Ash has done an excellent job of communicating their research with youth and sharing their passions for STEM - grateful to have them on the team!

Congratulations Nayaab Punjani on receiving the ORT Conference Award!
Nayaab Punjani is a 3rd year PhD student in Dr. Michael Fehlings lab at the Krembil Research Institute. Her research examines a novel neuroprotective peptide drug to treat cervical traumatic spinal cord injury.
Congratulations Fatemeh Alavi on receiving the ORT Conference Award! 
Dr. Fatemeh Alavi is a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Angela Cheung's lab at Toronto General Hospital. Fatemeh is working on the biomechanical analysis to reduce the risk of mechanical complications following spine deformity corrective surgery.
