ANNOUNCEMENTS
Entitlement Changes for UHN Postdoctoral Researchers & Information Session
UHN is excited to announce new enhancements to the payroll process for UHN postdoctoral researchers, to allow them to be eligible for paid entitlements. Effective November 17, 2025, postdoctoral researchers will now be eligible for: maternity/parental/adoption leave top-ups, 3 weeks paid vacation per calendar year, paid statutory holidays and 1 float day per calendar year, paid sick days and short term disability, and paid bereavement and jury duty days.

People & Culture is hosting an online information session on the changes, open to everyone across Research who would like to learn more.

Call for Volunteers: Falling Walls Lab Toronto
Falling Walls Lab Toronto is seeking graduate students and postdoctoral researchers to join the organizing committee for their 2026 Toronto pitch competition. The time commitment is approximately an hour a week to contribute to event planning, marketing and/or fundraising.

Falling Walls Lab is a world-class pitch competition and networking forum that brings together a diverse and interdisciplinary pool of students and early-career professionals by providing a stage for breakthrough ideas globally and locally.

RESOURCE OF THE WEEK
UHN Walk Safe and Call Safe Programs
UHN security operations offers two safety programs to protect UHN staff, students, and volunteers. The Walk-Safe program offers a security guard to escort individuals to and from UHN sites safely. The Call-Safe program provides hourly safety-check calls to individuals working alone or who feel they are in high-risk situations.

COMMUNITY
Congratulations, Alex Cho, on receiving an ORT Conference Participation Award!
Alex is a PhD Candidate under the supervision of Dr. Cristina Nostro at the UHN Research Institutes. In his research, Alex aims to explore the differentiation of pluripotent stem cells into pancreatic cell fates for applications in studying pancreatic development and the pathogenesis of cystic fibrosis-related diabetes.
