Postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Biostatistics, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University of Toronto. Princess Margaret Cancer Centre offers outstanding opportunities for training in machine learning and statistical genetics and genomics. The position involves methodological and applied research in machine learning and statistical learning on high dimensional medical and genomics data with Prof. Wei Xu. Examples of possible projects include integrative statistical and machine learning methods for different types of omics data, microbiome sequencing data, predictive modeling development, and implementation to complex disease outcomes. The research environment is multidisciplinary, involving collaborations with world-leading scientists and clinicians investigating cancer diseases, such as head and neck cancer and lung cancer. Beyond Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and University of Toronto, the Toronto area provides an excellent environment with numerous research institutes and genomic centers.

Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Biostatics, Statistics or equivalent, obtained within the last five (5) years or MD within the last ten (10) years
  • Strong quantitative background and programming skills
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team is a prerequisite
