University Health Network (UHN) is looking for an experienced Postdoctoral Fellow to fill the key role of a Postdoctoral fellow in the Donald K. Johnson Eye Institute.

An NIH-funded postdoctoral research position is available in the Sivak Lab which is focused on molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration, focusing on the retina and visual system. The research project is investigating a newly discovered neuroprotective signaling pathway in the retina initiated by lipid mediators to maintains neuronal homostatis.

Qualifications:

  • PhD awarded within past 5 years
  • Strong molecular and cell biology techniques (PCR, western blotting, confocal imaging)
  • Excellent communication skills and authorship of peer reviewed scientific articles
  • Previous experiences in retinal biology, neurodegeneration or lipid mediators a major asset
