How To: Informational Interviews

Informational interviews – informal conversations with professionals – are one of the most effective tools for networking and help you to find out more about a career you’re interested in. But contacting someone for an informational interview can seem daunting, and where do you start ? What is appropriate to ask?

Join the UHN Postdoc Association (UHNPA) and the Office of Research Trainees (ORT) for a 1 hour interactive, in-person workshop on Informational Interviews. Learn how to:

  • Contact someone for an informational interview
  • Prepare for an informational interview
  • Conduct an informational interview – Dos & Don’ts

The workshop will include tips from experienced interviewers, insights from seasoned interviewees, and a mock informational interview to show you what (not) to do.

As a special bonus, ORT will offer a networking service for workshop attendees. After the workshop, you’ll be able to sign up to be put in contact with a professional in your career of interest for an informational interview. We will try our best, but cannot guarantee that we’ll be able to find a match for everyone.

This event is open to everyone at UHN.
