Heart to Heart: A UHN Valentine's Day Blood Drive

On Valentine’s Day, Ameesha Paliwal (UHN Trainee) and the Office of Research Trainees (ORT) are organizing a group blood donation on February 14, 2024, with appointments beginning at 2:10 p.m. The ORT will also be present on donation day to provide lots of water and snacks before and after your donation! Join us in Room 258 on the 2nd floor of the Canadian Blood Services Building beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Please read the following information carefully before registering to donate. To determine if you are able donate blood, take the Eligibility Quiz here!

Use the following steps to join the group donation at the College St. Donation Centre (67 College St.) to book your desired appointment beginning at 2:10 p.m. on February 14, 2024.

Team members can join on blood.ca or the GiveBlood App:

  • Simply login to your donor account.
  • Select ‘Partners’ from the side menu. (or in the corner of the app)
  • Select ‘Join Team.’
  • Search ‘UHN Trainees’ and join!
  • And then book your appointment to donate blood.

Important reminders about donating blood:

  • The donation process takes about an hour end-to-end
  • Donors must be 17 years or older, in good general health, meet our height and weight requirements, and other eligibility requirements.
  • It’s important that all donors bring a government-issued photo ID as well as a list of current medications.
  • Donors are highly encouraged to drink plenty of water and eat a salty snack before donating.
  • To help determine if you are able to donate Blood take the Eligibility Quiz as a first step.
  • If you have specific questions and want to look something up, visit the ABC’s of Eligibility or call 1 888 2 DONATE
  • Here is what you can expect when you donate.

  • Any donors who have medical inquiries can call 1 888 2 DONATE (1 888 236-6283) and ask to speak to an information nurse.
