Data science has been one of the most in-demand jobs for the past few years. Data Science skills have become a critical asset in any career, business, or academic program.

This workshop will introduce you to skills, tools, and education that will help kick-start your data science journey. We will start by breaking down data science and artificial intelligence into their core components. We will then highlight the learning roadmaps along with specific recommended courses that can help you further grow your programming and analysis skills. In addition, you will be provided with a curated guide to resources in the city that can help you connect with other data scientists and expand your data science professional network.

Presenter

Fouad Yousif has over 12 years of experience in data science and educational outreach. He currently works as a data scientist at RBC, developing machine learning models that predict risk and provide business insights. Prior to that, Fouad worked as a data scientist at The Ontario Institute for Cancer Research, where he was part of many publications and computational developments that aimed to improve cancer prognosis. Fouad is a very active member in the teaching community. In addition to instructing a statistics course at Seneca College and Data Science courses at BrainStation, he has taught a variety of workshops in Toronto, New York, Montreal and São Paulo that helped scientists learn programming and data analysis skills.

In 2018, Fouad founded The Coding Hive, a Toronto based training program that offers high school students and professionals a series of Artificial Intelligence (AI) workshops, and has been an active instructor since then.
