Programming in Python Crash Course

The UHN Office of Research Trainees is delighted to offer a four-part in-person workshop for UHN graduate students and postdoctoral researchers to learn basic skills in programming in Python, Shell and Version Control, using the Carpentries curriculum. The sessions will be led by certified Carpentries Instructors, Dr. Frances Wong from Toronto Metropolitan University and Dr. Bryan Hong from the University of Toronto. No prior experience is necessary.

Session Information:

  • November 21 from 1-5 pm – Bash/Shell (curriculum here).
  • November 21 from 1-5 pm – Python Part 1 (curriculum here for Part 1 and 2).
  • November 28 from 1-5 pm – Version Control with Git (curriculum here).
  • November 29 from 1-5 pm – Python Part 2.

Spots are limited as the workshops involve hands-on coding, with assistance from instructors and experienced UHN graduate students and postdoctoral researchers completing the Carpentries Instructors program. These workshops are only open to UHN students and postdoctoral researchers. Registrants must commit to attending all four sessions.

Participants must bring their own computer to the session. All sessions will be held at Toronto General Hospital. Exact location details will be sent to registrants.
